Bonnie Levine is an experienced, solutions-focused employment attorney, litigator, investigator, and business advisor, specializing in respectful-workplace initiatives, DEI (diversity equity inclusion), workplace investigations, global distributed workforce management, ethics & compliance, and sustainable growth strategies. Bonnie utilizes creative, research-guided approaches to help employers rethink legal-risk decisions in a way that aligns workplace compliance with their goals and values, mindful of systemic barriers.

An expert and thought leader on laws related to workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, Bonnie devotes a significant portion of her practice to reviewing and counseling on DEI initiatives from an interdisciplinary and cross-border perspective, reconciling complex and conflicting legal frameworks globally. She regularly oversees and advises on demographic data-collection exercises, such as DEI surveys and self-ID campaigns, for global employers, applying multjurisdictional data privacy laws and regulations.  In 2022, she coauthored an article in Harvard Business Review on constructive organizational partnerships among compliance, human resources, and DEI functions, and she conducts trainings and workshops for clients to help align these functions.  In 2023, Bonnie was quoted in ABA Journal, NPR, Quartz on US Supreme Court’s recent decision involving affirmative action and impact on workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.

Bonnie works with employers of all sizes and industries, with particular expertise in the technology and non-profit sector. She has served as an external general counsel and has in-house experience as a secondee with a large global manufacturer. She has litigated on both the plaintiff and defense side, including in matters involving wage-hour, discrimination, harassment, equal pay, restrictive covenants, and breach of contracts.

In 2021, Bonnie founded a boutique investigations and DEI practice, Verse Legal, which she moved to gunnercooke in 2024 to achieve a global, cross-border platform for the philosophy of human-centered, equity-aligned workplace compliance. Prior to founding Verse, Bonnie spent over ten years practicing employment law at a global labor-and-employment law firm, where she led the Asia-Pacific team within the cross-border practice and was a member of the Diversity & Inclusion, Data Privacy, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Unfair Competition practice groups.

Bonnie is a cyclist, vocalist, keyboardist, and songwriter / arranger, and speaks Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.
